The functions and responsibilities of JSPIC is as follows

Cooperation platform for R&D: introducing programs from domestic and abroad, attracting personnel, combining R&D achievements of different regions, transferring science programs, shortening R&D cycle, in a word, exerting all of the developing factors to maximum.

Share professional facilities: such as open labs, cell plant lab, complex lab, analysis lab, pharmacological and safety evaluation, animal room, scale-up facility and so on.

Kinds of authorization service: among them are certificates for new medicines, licenses for medicine production, GMP authentication, GLP authentication, safety evaluation, and the Center also deals with the coordination between national, provincial and local medical supervising institutions and agencies.

Integration of production, education and research: co-construct education and practice base for graduates and undergraduates with Soochow University and Nanjing University, set up a teaching and research base to promote the integration and to share resources. Moreover, the Center also tries to promote the combination of research and sale of bio-medical industry both in and outside the base, so as to maximize the economic value of the projects.
